OLM will host the 2024/2025 Sacramento Diocese Altar Server Recognition Mass and Event on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
This special event, held from 10:00am to 1:00pm, will honor all Altar Servers from the 15 northern parishes, including Chico and beyond.
The day will begin with a 10:30am Mass, followed by a reception lunch hosted by the Knights of Columbus. During the event, all Altar Servers with at least one year of service will receive a certificate of recognition. Additionally, each parish will have the opportunity to take a group photo with the Bishop, and an Altar Server of the Year will be named from each parish.

Become an Altar Server
Boys and girls who have received their First Communion can minister as altar servers. The ministry is open to adults as well.
The servers enhance the quality of celebration for the whole gathered assembly by assisting the priests and deacons, by taking part in processions holding the cross and candles, holding the Roman Missal (big red book) for the priest, helping receive the gifts of bread, wine and water, washing the hands of the priest, ringing the bells, generally assisting as necessary and and by ensuring that all items required for the celebration of the mass are available at the appropriate moments.
Periodic training is required and provided.
